Color. Shape. Texture. Surface.

Jason Zahn is an American contemporary painter interested in exploring the intersection of color, shape, texture and surface.

His work ranges from structured geometrical paintings to more loose free form pieces, all containing a visible surface history built through multiple layers and various mediums.

Working primarily in acrylic paint, multiple layers are built creating a distinct surface richness. Scraping back through previous layers, a history is revealed and subtle details emerge. The process is as much deconstructive as it is constructive.

Coming to painting later in life, Jason brings a unique perspective free from the confines of a formal art education.

He has studied with Nicholas Wilton and team through the Creative Visionary Program. He lives and works outside of Baltimore, Maryland and his paintings can be found in private collections across the United States.
